Why Write/Edit with Deft Mag?
Deft Magazine is unlike most publications. We operate under the premise that hip hop is not simply a topic of conversation. It permeates our being and our worldview. Hip Hop is the lens by which our generation sees the world. And for those who see the world in the same light, we have dedicated ourselves.
Join the compendium of talented journalists, bloggers and writers worldwide that have the opportunity to discuss all manner of topics eloquently, but with the edginess that hip hop has created over the last three decades.
Make your mark with the one enterprise that takes hip hop and culture from a completely different slant.
These opportunities are unpaid, yet rewarding. Contributors have the chance to submit their work on a regular basis regarding a variety of subjects to gain exposure and experience or as reference to their professionally published writing to obtain positions as full-time, freelance, or syndicated columnists.
Columnists
All resumes can be emailed directly to jobs@deftmag.com. Applicants should have experience reporting and writing for other publications.
Duties include writing and reporting two or more columns per month.
Please submit:
* A cover letter.
* A résumé.
* Five samples of clips. They need not have been published, only impactful, memorable and better than the average journalist.
Contributing Writers
All resumes can be emailed directly to jobs@deftmag.com. Applicants should have experience reporting, editing and writing for other publications.
These contributing writers will work on a volunteer basis, writing, reporting, and/or editing
1-2 columns per month, including monthly editorial webcasts and bimonthly direction meetings.

* Five samples of published clips, including publication name and date of publication.
Contributing Editors/Fact Checkers
All resumes can be emailed directly to jobs@deftmag.com Applicants should have experience reporting, editing and writing for other publications.
These contributing editors will work on a volunteer basis, editing and/or fact checking 1-2 columns per month, including monthly editorial board meetings and bimonthly direction meetings.

Bloggers
